New! SPDBV/POV Molgraph discussion board!!

This will be the place to discuss and ask questions regarding rendering pictures of protein structures using SPDBV and POV. Share the knowledge! Click here to go to the board!

Welcome!

These pages contain some pictures I generated using POVRay 3.1, Swiss PDB Viewer 3.0 and the POV modeler Moray 3. Used in conjunction, these free programs allow for the generation of beautiful ray-traced images of protein structures from the corresponding PDB files. The user has nearly complete control over the final result and any picture can be made as dull or flashy as desired, the latter obviously requiring somewhat more user input. All of the 'molecular graphics' you see on this page were generated using POV and SPDBV, including the rotating picture of the azurin active site in the upper left-hand corner.

In the picture section, each picture is accompanied by some information on how the scene was generated. If you have suggestions, questions or comments, just mail them to me and I just might consider putting up a discussion or FAQ page :-) Enjoy!
